Classrooms for a Cause : PROJECT NEPAL

In 2005, IWEN became a registered charity in Canada with the purpose of raising awareness of the importance of, and providing access to education for primarily marginalized females in Nepal.

In the Dang region of Nepal, in order survive economically, impoverished families sell their daughters (some as young as 7 years old) into Bonded Labour. These girls are used as house slaves, farm labour and in some cases, sex trade workers.

By educating local families on how IWEN can help, to date more than 280 girls have been rescued or prevented from new Bonded Labour Contracts being engaged in. Of thosegirls, 212 are still in school today. This is called the Indentured Girls Program.

Here is how you can help

For $100 you can buy a brick with your family name on it and have it installed on the walls of the school. You could also dedicate the brick to someone you care about.

All proceeds from this will go directly to the Cause and you will be provided a tax receipt for your contribution.

Our group from Canada will be installing these bricks while there and we will personally take a photo of this to show you on our return
