Welcome to

IWEN-LOGO.jpg

We empower marginalized women and girls in Canada & Nepal
through education, life skills, and microfinance.

Nepal: IWEN focuses on ensuring that girls receive an education, that their mothers and all women from the community have access to skill-building opportunities, and that micro-financing groups are available to fund their hopes and dreams.  Sustainably.

Our social initiative, Unako, is a group of eight rural, ethnically Tharu women who hand make our signature scarves and bags which IWEN sells to help fund programs. It also offers safe and fair wage employment to local women.

Canada: In the East, IWEN runs a literacy program for immigrant mothers who are falling through the cracks as they do not fit into existing programs.

In western Canada, IWEN funds mentoring and life skills courses for marginalized and at-risk women.

AND change lives

A woman wears a scarf to enhance her appearance, to make a statement and express a part of herself to the world. UNAKO does all that and more! Each scarf that is purchased enhances the life of one female child, youth or adult by providing her educational and livelihood opportunities.

Imagine: a woman in Canada, or elsewhere in the world, that wears an UNAKO scarf is linked to another woman in rural western Nepal. Each scarf weaves a link to another female that is surviving despite the cruelty of poverty.
